2012
Schedule: February 11, May 12, August 25, November 10
Saturdays, 8:30 am –
8:30 pm CST
These popular Intensives are designed for participants to engage
in very deep practice for one full day.
Throughout the day students gather in small groups and large
groups where they meditate together, have instruction in meditation, and have the opportunity to ask questions both in large
& small group settings. Silence is often a part of the intensives. Each day includes approximately 8 hours of practice,
but seated meditation is sometimes alternated with walking meditation, and discussion, hatha yoga, kirtan, and other
chanting provide variety throughout the day. The theme for the February 11th Intensive
is Love and Devotion.

MARMA POINT THERAPY
What are Marma Points?
Marma points are vital zones of life force in the human body. They are found at the key
junctions of muscles, veins, arteries, tendons and bones throughout the body. They can be activated, stimulated and accelerated
to enhance the various essential physiological and emotional functions of the body.
There are 117 Marma points throughout the
body. Each point has its own intelligence and consciousness, which co-ordinate with the mind and body. This ancient form of
treatment dating back to between 1500 — 1200 BC involves using the fingers to stimulate the Marma points thereby promoting
physical and mental rehabilitation. As with Acupuncture, these points correspond to internal organs and systems of the body
which react to manual stimulation. They are massaged with the thumb moving in a circular motion.
This stimulates the free flow of energy in the body
Where
does this therapy come from?
Marma point massage is a kind of Indian Reflexology. It
comes from the tradition of Ayurvedic medicine.
It focuses on strategic points on the body that act as energy centers. The marmani are
like “gateways” to the inner pharmacy.
What can I expect from Marma Point
therapy?
The
practitioner uses her hands in an effective, but gentle and non-invasive manner.
Through centuries of practice it has been observed that the following
symptoms are alleviated through Marma massage: nervousness, anxiety, insomnia, pain, stress, and many others.
How long does a session usually last?
In summary, simulating or massaging the marma points gives benefits to the area of their locations and improves the
function of the connecting organs. The marma massage itself is approximately 60 to 90 minutes of duration.
Ideally, marma massages should be performed by experienced therapists. The marma massage can be used as a part of a rejuvenation
therapy or it could be used as preventative measure from unwanted conditions. Either way, marma massage is a really useful
way to help improve or maintain an individual's health balance.
How
can I maximize the effects of my treatment?
By going home, taking a warm shower, drinking water, and resting for a while after the treatment.
What is the cost?
$75/ session

FLOWER BLOSSOM GIRLS YOGA
Yoga for Children
Did You Know...?
Yoga Improves Concentration. The breathing and awareness that is a main ingredient of any yoga practice
helps children focus and concentrate. Yoga stimulates the imagination, enhances respect for others and promotes inner strength.
Numerous studies that have shown that children who practice yoga are able to concentrate and focus better. Yoga practice also
offers benefits for conditions such as ADHD.
Yoga Eases Stress. Competition in school and peer pressure often cause children stress. Yoga can help children
learn how to relax, control their breathing and therefore control their stress responses.
Yoga Boosts Self Esteem. Yoga is non-competitive while still offering children the chance
to face individual challenges. It helps them feel good about their abilities without worrying about how they compare to others.
This type of experience helps children feel more confident in themselves and increases self esteem.
Yoga Creates a Healthy Body. Childhood obesity is rising and yoga is a fun way to get children moving.
It helps develop strength, gain stamina and increase flexibility and if a child is involved in any other sport, a regular
yoga practice is a fantastic cross-training activity that can help avoid sport-related injuries.
In
this class we will move our bodies and stretch our minds as we learn to have fun with Yoga. We will relax
and breathe and learn to rest quietly inside ourselves.

As our children grow, they are faced
with many difficult tasks: how to behave as adults expect them to, how to get along with others (including siblings!), how
to get through the school day. However, the most monumental task of all is discovering who they are.
What better way is there to help them in all of these challenges than to give them the tools to look inward?
Meditation
has been shown to help adults and children learn to relax and let go of stress. This can lead to better
sleep at night and increased ability to concentrate during the day. It has also been shown to improve symptoms
associated with ADD. Over time, a meditation practice will help your child make stronger contact with his
own inner strength which will give him more self-confidence and shield him from the destructive influence of peer pressure.
It will also help her get along more easily with others and find a happiness that springs from knowing her innermost
self.
Topics
will include how to sit comfortably, concentration on the breath, beginning mantra, releasing tension, and applying the practice
to daily life. Parents are welcome to attend as well.
This will be a friendly, light-hearted class.
We will meet for ½ hour every Wednesday during the four week session to learn the techniques covered in the
course, and the children will encouraged to practice at least once every day for 10-15 minutes.
